Atlys Simplifies Visa Applications with Technology, Says Goodbye to Travel Hassles
Travelling abroad is exciting, but applying for a visa often turns that excitement into stress. From endless paperwork to confusing requirements, the visa process can be a major deterrent for many. Enter Atlys, a New Delhi-based startup founded in 2021 by Mohak Nahta, a former Pinterest engineer, with one clear mission—make visa applications simple, fast, and digital.
After struggling to secure five different visas for a single work trip, Nahta realised a critical insight: while each country has unique processes, most require similar documentation. This insight became the foundation of Atlys—a unified platform that streamlines the entire visa application process.
A Centralised, Seamless Visa Experience
Atlys consolidates every stage of the visa process into one secure platform—from eligibility checks and form-filling to document uploads, payments, real-time status updates, and customer support.
“Instead of switching between portals, travellers can apply for visas to over 120 countries from a single platform that always reflects the latest requirements,” says Nahta.
The platform supports various visa types, including e-visas and traditional visas requiring in-person interviews. Users can upload documents once and reuse them across multiple applications, with AI tools ensuring correct formatting and quality checks—like glare or blur detection—during passport scanning.
Tools Built for Accuracy and Efficiency
-
Smart Form-Filling: Automatically completes visa forms using verified user inputs.
-
AI-Powered Photo Generator: Creates compliant visa photos by adjusting size and background.
-
Mock Interview Tool: Prepares users for US visa interviews using real-world scenarios.
-
Visa Probability Evaluator: Assesses the likelihood of approval and offers suggestions to strengthen applications.
-
Guided Interfaces: Especially helpful for complex visas like Schengen, these simplify form navigation.
With full cross-device support, users can start on one device and continue on another seamlessly. The platform also offers real-time updates and predicts visa issuance timelines, tackling one of the most common concerns among travellers—uncertainty.
Security and Compliance at the Core
Data privacy is non-negotiable for Atlys. The platform uses 256-bit AES encryption—the same level used by global banks and intelligence agencies. It also complies with GDPR and ISO standards, ensuring data is protected at every stage.
Scaling Globally from India
Although headquartered in the US, a large part of Atlys' 100-member team operates from India, especially New Delhi. India remains the company’s biggest market, including significant adoption from Tier II and III cities.
Atlys has processed over 1.2 million visas across India, the UK, UAE, and other regions. Recently, it acquired the UK arm of Artionis, a travel document management firm, to expand its support for immigrant communities holding “weaker” passports—those with limited visa-free access.
Backed by Top Investors
The company has raised over $40 million across four funding rounds from major investors like Andreessen Horowitz (a16z), Sequoia Capital, and Elevation Capital. Its latest $20 million Series B included new participants like DST Global and Headline, with funds directed toward global expansion and user experience enhancement.
Looking Beyond Visas
Atlys is now branching into related travel services. Recent features include:
-
Real-time flight tracking
-
Travel insurance integration
-
Instant forex services
“We want to give people the freedom to travel without barriers,” Nahta says. “What once took hours—or even days—can now be completed in minutes. That’s the kind of impact we want Atlys to have on global travel.”
