ED Raids FIITJEE Centres in Delhi-NCR Over Alleged Money Laundering Case

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) carried out multiple searches across Delhi-NCR on Thursday as part of a money laundering investigation involving renowned coaching institute FIITJEE. The raids were conducted under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) and targeted locations in Delhi, Noida, and Gurugram, including premises linked to the institute’s promoters.

Allegations Sparked by Parent Complaints

The investigation stems from FIRs filed by the Noida and Delhi Police, following complaints from concerned parents earlier this year. According to the complaints, FIITJEE centres were abruptly shut down, leaving many students mid-course without guidance or recourse. Parents claim they had paid significant sums as coaching fees, but were offered neither educational services nor refunds after the closures.

Legacy of FIITJEE

Founded in 1992 by D.K. Goel, FIITJEE (Forum for Indian Institute of Technology Joint Entrance Examination) emerged as one of India’s most reputed coaching institutions for engineering entrance exams such as JEE, NTSE, KVPY, and Olympiads. Known for its rigorous academic programs and high student success rates, FIITJEE grew into a national presence with a network of 73 centres and thousands of aspirants enrolling annually.

However, the recent developments have cast a shadow over its reputation, as the institute now faces serious legal scrutiny.

Current Status and What Lies Ahead

As per sources, the ED is currently examining financial documents, transaction records, and other evidence to assess potential violations related to the misappropriation of fees and possible money laundering activities. The ongoing raids mark a significant development in a case that has raised questions about accountability in the private coaching sector.

The story is developing, and further updates are expected as the investigation progresses.
